We are recruiting Fall 2017 ACE Peer Mentors, who act as role models to new students’ transition to our campus. All participants are placed with a group of 10-15 freshmen and lead a class (CAS 110) once a week. You also meet once a week in a class just for peer mentors (CAS 301) from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a faculty member. You will design lesson plans and learn important leadership strategies to guide you through the semester.
Not only will you gain valuable leadership experience and make lasting relationships, but you will also earn four credits (CAS 301) with upper- division writing intensive (W) and oral communication (O) designations.Plus, there’s a $2,000 ACE Student Success Scholarship. We are seeking friendly and energetic UHM students who want to help freshmen succeed. Prospective peer mentors must also be:
- Junior or senior standing (60+ credits by the start of Fall 2017)
- In good academic standing (2.5+ GPA)
- Articulate, motivated and willing to take initiative
