Aloha Incoming UH Manoa Freshmen!
We hope you’re all excited for your first semester of college! But before you all start winding down, we just wanted to clarify the two registration options you have for the Fall 2017 semester.
On May 22nd registration will open for all UH Manoa freshmen. When you log onto your STAR account to register you will have two options: Standard Registration and ACE Learning Communities.
Option #1: Standard Registration
Standard registration allows you to pick and choose what classes you want to take ala carte style. This option requires a little more background research to find out what courses fulfill your graduation requirements and fit into your major.
Option #2: ACE Learning Communities
ACE is free and open to all incoming freshman students. This option gives you a group of classes (based on your major) guaranteed to put you on a four year graduation track. In addition to your regular classes, ACE (First Year Programs) allows you to take an additional 1-credit course CAS 110 to help you better acclimate to university life. Some of benefits of selecting joining an ACE learning community are:
- Classes are hand picked by major advisors. Fits graduation track and have high freshman success rating.
- Better class times. You’re not left picking the leftover classes from upperclassmen because seats are reserved for you. Seats have been saved for ACE freshmen, even before seniors could register.
- Paired with 15 student learning community + peer mentor to help establish networking and connections on campus.
